Nintendo dates and prices their upcoming Wiimote expansion and sequel to their ground-breaking Wii Sports franchise.

Nintendo's long history of including hardware accessories and/or updates to
their core home console continues this summer as the long-awaited Wii MotionPlus
attachment hits retail stores June 8th for the cozy price of $19. But even
more exciting is the expected bundle of the console's breakthrough follow-up,
Wii Sports Resort, hits stores weeks later on July 26th and include the
accessory for the asking price of $49. EA will be supporting the accessory
with titles of their own, including Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger
Woods PGA Tour 10, both launching close to the accessory on June 10th.
Sega's Virtua Tennis 2009 hits launch day, making it the first title to
use the accessory.
If you're doing the math, that's $39 for standard Wiimote, $19 for Nunchuk,
and now an additional $19 for the extra Wii MotionPlus accessory. That's a
whopping (estimate) $80 to get the full Wii control experience, to say nothing
of other attachments and accessories already available. While it's nice of
Nintendo to include the latest update to the Wiimote controller inside copies of
Wii Sports Resort, which is guaranteed to sell millions, it sure would've been
nice to offer one as a freebie to the millions of current Wii owners.
